Sci-Fi

I don’t read a ton of science fiction, but here are some of my favorites.

  • A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle – Meg, Charles, Wallace, and Calvin search for Meg’s father, who disappeared while working for the government on the tesseract problem
  • Eager by Helen Fox – Gavin and Fleur are loaned an experimental robot, EGR3, who feels emotions and learns from his experiences. When the human-like BDC4 robots start acting strange, the three are drawn into an adventure where they wonder what it really means to be alive.
  • The Giver by Lois Lowry – Jonas receives special training from the Giver in a futuristic world that rejects emotion and memories.
  • The Wild Robot by Peter Brown – Roz the robot wakes up on a wild island and learns to live with and befriend the animals.
  • The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau – The City of Ember was created with everything humans need to survive, but as corruption threatens the city, the lights begin to fail.
  • The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Steward – When four children pass a mysterious test, they are thrown into a secret mission where they discover many secrets.
  • The Fog Diver by Joel Ross – Chess and the rest of the crew salvage the surface from their floating raft in a world where humanity has retreated to mountaintops to avoid the Fog.
  • We’re Not From Here by Geoff Rodkey – the Earth is unlivable, and Mars soon will be as well. So, humanity is invited to move to Planet Choom. The only problem is that by the time they arrive, they are no longer welcome and it’s up to one family to make a good enough impression to save the human race.
